In this letter I want to share with you the second book I published on Amazon. This book is special to me because I was able to present it oficially in The international Book Fair of Trujillo last year.
I had been writing for many years when I decided to put together twenty-seven stories and complete a book called Planeta Délfico y otros cuentos (Delphic planet and other stories). I’ll translate to you the description I wrote for Amazon:
There are dreams that talk about unknown universes, beings from other planets, glorious battles, blood and destruction, but also beauty and eternity. While we sleep, the most unlikely dreams are possible, and our most deep wishes come true. «Be careful with your dreams: they are the siren of the soul. She sings. She calls to us. We follow and never return», Flaubert used to say. In this book of stories, written along ten years, la author narrates some of the dreams that, like uncreated music, danced across her mind during many nights. Now they are ready to be lived for everyone through the magic of words. «Delphic planet and other stories» is a book that talks about the enigma of death, of the Great War, of ineffable beings, of aliens and Barbarians; it’s also about topics related to women’s roles in patriarchal societies, and the author gives them a power that has never been seen.
Most stories are based on my dreams, but others are just pure imagination and also, based on my living experiences. Maybe my favourite story is the last one, it’s called Delphic planet, and it’s about how I fall in love with a great female warrior but eventually I have to make a crucial decision that involves departure. Once, many years ago, I had this strange dream in which I visited Delphic planet, and actually met this beautiful female warrior. The dream ends with a war, but also, I met my partner and lover: a Dolphin. It’s hard to explain, but I fell in love with him and together we visited unknow universes. It’s quite beautiful. I came to think that in real life I could find my Dolphin, I even wrote a novel about him and our encounter, and it will be published soon.
As I told you a previous letter, I let this book rest for ten years before publishing it. I don’t know If I will translate it to English, but it would be a nice idea.
Here, I attach some pictures of the presentation of the book at the International Book Fair in Trujillo, Peru.
My book was presented by renowned peruvian writers Dina Amada Sánchez and Bethoven Medina. It was quite a success.
If you are interested in reading it, you can find it on Amazon.
For the cover, I used an artwork from Boris Vallejo:
This woman reminds me of the great female warrior I dreamt about. Simply fascinating.
I hope you enjoyed this letter, hopefully found inspiration for your own writing. I’ll be so delighted to know about your thoughts and comments, please leave them below. Did you like my second book on Amazon? Would you read it?
